There seem to be a lot of Assassin's Creed titles running rampant across the games industry lately. Currently, Ubisoft has plans for multiple iterations into its Chronicles spin-off series. We've recently learned that the developer-publisher has plans for its sixth main-series entry, as well. The game is dubbed Assassin's Creed 6: Victory, and offers players the chance to gallavant their way through Victorian England, assassinating bad dudes and doing righteous battle against the Templar threat.
While all that sounds fun, is it getting to be a bit too much? I love Assassin's Creed just as much as the next guy or gal. That said, Ubisoft's plan to release yearly iterations for the series is a bit daunting. Personally, I don't like skipping games in a franchise. To keep up with the new array of Assassin's Creed titles, I had to skip the series' third entry. This left some hanging questions throughout my time in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. In fact, you could say I had some things spoiled for me.
Gameranx has asked the hard question of, "Are we finally getting sick of game sequels?" While I'd love to see more content from a series with fewer iterations, like Jak and Daxter or something of that nature, the Assassin's Creed bandwagon is still being pulled ahead at full speed. What could happen if Ubisoft dedicated their immense resources to a new intellectual property? If we keep buying into the same experiences over and over, we may never know.
