Minecraft Features Teased by Mojang Team Member

October 29, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

It looks like the ever-pervasive Minecraft will be seeing some more changes soon.

Find me a game that has found a stronger following than Minecrat in the past few years and I'll be amazed. Time-tested intellectual properties like Lego, Grand Theft Auto and The Elder Scrolls will all obviously see success whether their game is reviewed well or not. All that said, new intellectual properties can sometimes struggle to find their footing on the treacherous rock face that is the games industry. The video game world's taste is varied enough that most every game can find its niche, though. The other day we wrote that Microsoft head Phil Spencer doesn't really see the point of a Minecraft 2, which is pretty much on point. The beauty of Minecraft is its accessibility. Creating a second iteration into the franchise would rock the foundations of an already strong player base. The old adage comes to mind: 'If it's broken, why fix it?'

One staff member at Mojang, developers of Minecraft, has been tweeting some information pertinent to upcoming patches for the game. We're sure this information will be made available in more detail through some upcoming patch notes, but the data is here early.

Nathan Adams is the developer from which these tweets are coming.

The first tweet:

"For the next pre, I've changed some video options around. Clouds is now 'on/fast/fancy' and there's a new option for entity shadows 'on/off'"

Realizing he made a mistake or two, Adams fixed his original statement in the following tweet:

"Uhh, make that 'clouds: off/fast/fancy'…"

He also revealed some other miscellanious information, through a third tweet:

"The fast/fancy graphics button now only controls leaves transparency and rain particles."
