Far Cry 4 comes out on September 18, 2014 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. It is currently expected to be one of the biggest releases of the console generation and is already getting some attention from the gaming media as one of the strongest candidates for Game of the Year. Considering reviews haven't even hit yet, this is a little presumptuous, but it's no less an avid inference. Far Cry 3 was a huge stepping stone for the series. The third iteration took the series to a place where Ubisoft Montreal now knows what works and what doesn't – from here on out all they can do is improve upon the foundation they have built. Let's just hope they don't follow the paths of other mainstream titles like Call of Duty, which seem to use proven formulas as a crutch rather than a supplement.
Game Director Patrik Methe recently shared his top five moments from Far Cry 4. You won't have to worry about there being any spoilers – neither we or Ubisoft Montreal would do that you. The moments are generally pertinent to interaction with the environment and the creatures within. One of the moments, for example, had the game director climbing a tower. Methe kept hearing a tiger growl around him, so he jumped off to a different level of the tower. Still unsure of the tiger's location, Methe climbed to the top, finishing his objective. Once he got to the bottom, he thought he was safe, but the tiger was there waiting for him.
Supposedly, this is one small example of the many different gameplay surprises you'll encounter in your trek across Kyrat.
