There's very rarely ever a series that matches the prowess that Halo has achieved. The intellectual property has succeeded in both the first-person shooter and real-time strategy arenas, showing no signs of slowing down. Most franchises will hit critical mass in their given genre over the coruse of just 1 or 2 games, but Halo is a special beast. Most of us here at Gameranx are fans of the Halo franchise, so we can't say that the series' success comes to us as particularly surprising.
At any rate, the upcoming Halo: Spartan Strike is due out on December 12 later this year. We're getting more and more excited for it as the days roll by. Most recently, a number of new screenshots that really show off the game's superb art direction have been released by the game's developer, 343 Industries. In some ways, the RTS genre can deliver what the FPS can't, by offering players a top-down view of the battlefield. In addition to providing precision troop movements, this view offers players a glance at the beautiful environments within the game. Sometimes we forget to stop and smell the roses amidst all of the alien bloodshed.
Take a peek at the screenshots below, which detail both gameplay and concept art:
If these beautiful photos weren't enough, then maybe you missed the announcement trailer that came out yesterday. There's some cool music, explosions and more – so make sure you don't miss this video!
