Batman Arkham Knight seems to have a playable demo on Steam right now.
Our friend CabooseXBL found information on steamdb (via Arkhamverse) indicating that people are playing the game on Steam live. He points out that there are only two possibilities.
One, someone managed to hack into Steam and found a way to play an incomplete version of the game.
Two, this is actually one of Rocksteady Studios’ developers working on the game live. This is, of course the more likely of the two possibilities.
Another look at steamdb today revealed the truth. You can see screencaps showing three people playing the game at the same time, and steamdb has a graph showing activity throughout the week. It is highly doubtful this is the work of fans who hacked into the game. These are the developers, or at least playtesters.
More interestingly, it would be odd for Rocksteady to need to have three people playing single player instances separately. Server testing would require more people playing the game. Could this be a sign that Batman Arkham Knight could have multiplayer? Are these three playing different characters in the same game?
We know so far that Batman, Harley Quinn, and the Red Hood will have playable sections, so could they be playing these characters in the same map? And are they playing cooperatively or against each other? These are tantalizing possibilities for Batman Arkham Knight.
Batman Arkham Knight will be released in 2015 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
