Todd Howard Says The Elder Scrolls 6 Is In Design Stages

June 30, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

We’re still a long way off from the next mainline installment release.

Bethesda is a massively popular video game studio and they are best known for the likes of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Still, for fans that are hoping to get their hands on a new installment of The Elder Scrolls soon now that Bethesda has been acquired by Microsoft, it looks like this project is still quite a ways off from launching into the marketplace. According to Todd Howard, you can imagine this game still being in the design stage.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was such a massive hit that it’s not surprising for fans to be excited about a new installment. Skyrim brought so many newcomers to the franchise and it was a massive hit that we’ve seen new editions and ports released for newer platforms over the years. Still, it’s likely quite a bit of pressure for the team over at Bethesda to deliver another incredible hit after their last installment release. That might mean the studio has no intentions of rushing the project out the door.

We know that their next big installment release is Starfield which we finally saw a trailer for during E3 2021. It wasn’t a trailer to unveil what the game was about, but at the very least it was something new to check out while we wait for more fine details to come out. I’m bringing up Starfield for also the fact that Bethesda confirmed years ago that The Elder Scrolls 6 would not release until after the launch of Starfield, so you might want to divert your attention towards their upcoming science-fiction video game right now.

Recently, The Telegraph spoke with Todd Howard where The Elder Scrolls 6 came up. According to Todd Howard, the game is still being handled in terms of design. With that said, we do know that the game will be using the Creation Engine 2 which is the engine first being used for Starfield. Depending on how well Starfield handles could help Bethesda in crafting up any changes or additions for the engine when it comes to developing The Elder Scrolls 6. As it stands now, Starfield will be releasing on the Xbox Series X/S along with PC platforms on November 11, 2022.
