Tokyo Game Show is coming in a few weeks, and as we've mentioned already, Sony ran a little pre-show press conference. One of the announcements was that Persona 5, formerly scheduled solely for the PS3, will now be arriving on the PS4 alongside its original release. This caveat is that the Japanese release has been pushed back into 2015 — it was always coming in 2015 for Western territories, so no change for the rest of the world.
Persona 5 is the latest in Atlus' critically acclaimed Persona series, itself a spin-off of the Megami Tensei role-playing franchise that has been running since 1987. The previous main Persona installment was released for PS2 in 2008, well after the launch of the PS3. Persona 5 would have followed in the same footsteps — releasing for the lame duck console as Atlus has more intimate knowledge with its architecture that with the newer machine — but this news is sure to please fans on the fence about upgrading.
