The last two days of Super Smash Bros. updates have introduced some rather impressive new items into the fold. This morning, director Masahiro Sakurai unveiled the latest two support Pokemon: Victini from Pokemon Black & White and Xerneas from Pokemon X & Y. Allow Sakurai to fill you in on the details:
Unlike most regular Pokemon, these two don't deal direct damage to your opponents but instead switch up certain gameplay parameters. It'll be fascinating to see how significant the changes actually are in the final game.
Yesterday, we got a peek at the Daybreak, an overpowered canon featured in Kid Icarus: Uprising's multiplayer mode. It's essentially this game's Dragoon, requiring players to assemble three pieces before it can be activated. Using it is a lot like using the Cracker Launcher — you can fire the beam while advancing or retreating, and you flick the stick in order to turn in the opposite direction.
You'll be able to test these tools out for yourself when Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS arrives on October 3 and the Wii U version later in the winter.
