In the same post that confirmed the lack of online co-op in Hyrule Warriors, we shared news of a different form of online functionality that would occur in the game's Adventure Mode. As was explained during Monday's Nintendo Direct, Adventure Mode throws you onto a world map pulled straight out of the original NES Legend of Zelda, and you must complete traditional Warriors challenges in each block in order to explore more of the map. The latest issue of Game Informer has just detailed a feature called "Network Link" that will allow you to have some form of indirect interaction with other players.
According to producer Yosuke Hayashi, the way this feature works is that special Links will appear on the map, generated based on other players' user data. By completing missions alongside them, you'll earn special bonuses. It's not the online multiplayer we may have desired, but it is a nifty mechanic.
Hyrule Warriors is still on track for release on Wii U on September 26.
