Do you ever wonder how much video games mean to some people? Beyond console wars and favorite characters, there’s something special when family gets added to the mix.
An anon, using the pseudonym 00WARTHERAPY00, revealed randomly on Youtube a heartwrenching story that surprisingly involves his Xbox and a copy of RalliSport Challenge (Incorrectly identified here as Rally Sports Challenge). He remembers playing games with his dad with the console when he was four. His dad bought it to play games with him, but in an untimely manner, his father passed on two years later. 00WARTHERAPY00 did not touch that Xbox for a full ten years.
RalliSport Challenge is a barebones racer, but it does have some modes. In Time Attack, a player goes for the best time, and one can see the ghost data of the best racing time while you are racing, so that you can try to beat that time.
As you may have guessed, 00WARTHERAPY00 found that his father’s ghost data was in the game, and so, after a long time away, he started playing and trying to beat that time. When he finally got to the point where he bridged the gap, he stopped right at the finish line to savor that moment.
This post drove a slew of comments from other players about their childhood memories playing their favorite games with their family. 00WARTHERAPY00 has yet to surface or reveal himself, but he posted a follow up saying he did not expect the response that he received. All he wanted to do was share a story on a video about spirituality in games.
