We have the strangest new information for The Last Of Us Remastered. Someone has leaked the game’s new features, which apparently include an option to lock framerate at 30FPS.
First off, the source. No reason to doubt this one, as it is Spanish journalist Javi Andres. He tweeted the slides from a presentation Sony apparently gave or is giving in his country regarding the game.
If you don’t turn on 30FPS lock, the game will display at 1080p, 60FPS, in both single player and online multiplayer. The slides also reconfirm earlier confirmed technical details, such as longer draw distances, better LOD, etc.
The game will have other Playstation 4- specific improvements, including expanded audio options, use of the Dualshock 4’s unique features, and the option to switch between trigger and thumbstick controls. There will even be commentary tracks for the cinematics with voice actors Neil Druckmann, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson.
The game will also get new DLC, for both PS3 and PS4, on top of all the previous DLC being added to Remastered,. All these ‘add-on content’ will be cross-buy for the two platforms, and are planned to come out this year.
While I am sure a lot of you are excited at the prospect of new DLC, I can’t help but wonder about the 30FPS lock. If the game will be in full 60 FPS, as Naughty Dog has promised several times before, why is there a need for that 30FPS lock?
It is apparently being cited as an additional feature, and I look forward to hearing from Sony explain about this in more detail shortly.
The Last Of Us Remastered is coming July 29 to Playstation 4.
