Assassin’s Creed Unity: Details On Controls, Multiplayer, And Arno

July 9, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Arno is a character with a strong personality, but you aren’t quite playing the Assassin – again.

We have some details for Assassin’s Creed Unity, via E3 interview. We go through the new control schemes, multiplayer, and some details regarding Arno.

The control scheme is midway between changed and tweaked. They reiterated on what already existed, and fans were familiar with, but also redefined the pillars, in the service of multiplayer. More on that later.

Navigation has been made more precise, with a new control ascent system and other changes. There is also a dedicated stealth button now, that brings you into stealth mode anytime you want to.

Speaking of navigation, the rooftops have become an important element for it. Whenever you go up top, a menu comes up, and you get a viewpoint that allows you to plan ahead. In this way, going to the rooftops functions somewhere between a map and a base.

In regards to multiplayer, they have given players more control over the fight moves, with room for tactical, coordinated gameplay. Of course, by coordination we mean coordination with you and your three friends in multiplayer.

Regarding the multiplayer, every mission is connected to Arno and can be played single player. While playing, you’ll note that there’s a tavern functioning as a lobby. You can invite your friends to play in your game, while they can also play in yours. When you play together and win, you each go back to your single player games with saved progress. However, by necessity, only some, not all missions are available in multiplayer.

Finally, Arno is described as a character with a strong personality, who decides and acts without hesitation. Arno is mired in a quest for redemption, in the backdrop of both the Revolution and the Assassin – Templay conflict.

However, you aren’t really playing Arno, as Ubi has opted to follow the precedent made by Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Once again, the story of Arno plays out while you are a character in modern times, fighting Abstergo while reentering old Assassin memories.

Assassin's Creed Unity is set for release on October 28th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
