Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been given a humongous update today, bringing the game up to version 2.3 and adding a host of new story quests, primal battle, fixes, and more.
Dubbed the Defenders of Eorzea update after the game’s setting, the new 2.3 update includes story quests, a new primal battle for veteran players, and a host of fixes, all of which are detailed in the game’s comprehensive patch notes, published on the official website.
Seen below, the update has been released alongside a trailer detailing some of the update’s new content.
"Across the realm, voices cry out for a defender some brave soul who would guard the realm from peril. Who will answer the call to stand before the Lord of Levin, to brave the dangers of the Crystal Tower to unearth lost Allagan secrets, and to delve into treacherous dungeons for spoils and glory?

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn released on the PC and PS3 in August 2013 and on the PS4 this past April. It is a subscription-based game.
