We have more information on an amazing theory on the Guardians of Destiny, based on the information found in the Grimoire cards.
In game, Grimoire cards are found either by meeting a set number of achievements, or locating and activating deactivated ghosts. Every unlocked card reveals more information on Destiny’s lore. There are hundreds of them, giving you hours of playtime.
Bungie is actually launching a separate site where you can peruse and read the cards outside of play. Of course, based on this, it would seem that Bungie has planned for quite a long read for fans.
Now, based on the evidence from a lot of the Grimoire cards that have been outed so far, as well as some in game dialogue and other assets elsewhere, it seems that the Guardians are essentially the dead. No, seriously, all the Guardians were already dead, and chosen by the Traveler’s Ghost and ‘reforged in the light of the Traveler’ to become the city’s new protectors. Even more than that, these are the ancient dead, by Guardian years. Our cover image itself is a description for a Guardian helmet.
Of course, based on what we know so far doesn’t mean much in the long run. As some fans have pointed out, there is a possibility that this death could be metaphorical. The main thing is, we do not know a whole lot about the Traveler and his powers at this time, so we could run wild with speculation and it could be dead wrong.
Destiny will be released on September 9 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Perhaps we will finally find out the whole story regarding the Traveler then.
