We have new information for you regarding the production of Star Wars: Battlefront 3.
Karl Magnus Troedsson has described their experience working with Disney on the game has been very positive. Rather than feel hampered, as is often the case when working on licensed games, DICE felt enabled working within the framework set up by Disney.
Karl goes on further to concede that the prior Battlefront games borrowed a lot from Battlefield, but they went about making these games with the Star Wars gamer demographic in mind. That frame of mind has carried over to the new game, but this time, with the core mechanic DICE has outlined for the game, it will not be similar to older Battlefront or Battlefield games at all.
It should be noted that DICE enjoys an advantage here, since LucasFilm recently revealed a reset of the Extended Universe. Everything that was not in the six movies or the Cartoon Network series was deemed non-canon, but future brand extensions, including this new game, will be part of the canon.
There’s some speculation that DICE may have privy knowledge on the upcoming Star Wars movie itself, but again, thanks to coordination with DICE and Disney, it may not be necessary to reveal that much at all.
