It didn’t take that long. Ubisoft is releasing a universal patch for Watch Dogs across all platforms, announced days after the now-famous mod that brings back several graphical effects from 2012/2013 into the PC version.
Let’s get this out of the way; no, this patch does not directly address those rediscovered graphical effects to the game. It makes mentions of several graphical changes, including fixing bugs and glitches, during gameplay, cutscenes, and across low and medium settings. Ubi also alludes to the PC version receiving ‘several performance improvements’, and of course they did not elaborate further.
The biggest fixes allow players to reconstruct corrupted save files, and also free them up to use hacks within the game. They also took care of mission-breaking bugs, the bug that creates the empty weapon wheel, multiplayer connection, sessions joining and respawn issues, and a panoply of PC specific issues.
Among the big PC fixes is removing the Vista OS check to eliminate false positives, fixing SLI configuration crashes, multiplayer connection, and adding the game version in the main menu.
The patch should be available for Playstation 4 now, with Playstation 3 and PC patches coming in the coming days, and Xbox 360 and Xbox One patches within the week. Feel free to let us know how the patch treats you in the comments below.
