Xbox Live June Update Now Up, Adds External Storage Support to Xbox One

June 4, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Xbox Live June update has just gone live.

Owners of the Xbox 360 and Xbox One will no longer have to sign in with a Gold membership to access media apps like Netflix and Hulu, thanks to an update that rolled out late last night. The Xbox Live service’s June update is now live, and brings with it a host of new features.

In addition to the free media services, Xbox Live users can now use their real names to identify themselves to other users, much like how it works on the PlayStation 4.

Additionally, Xbox One users have at their disposal external storage options, so you won’t have to worry about running out of hard drive space ever again.

Finally, Microsoft has announced that Hulu will be offering three-month trial membership to Xbox Live Gold members.

Members of Xbox Live Gold can download the first two Games with Gold titles for the Xbox One, which include Halo: Spartan Assault and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. You will need to maintain your Gold subscription to have access to these two games.
