Sony Online Entertainment's open world zombie game H1Z1 was demonstrated in two recent Geekdomo Twitch streams and a host of new information about the game has been relayed through Reddit.
Lore
- The source of the zombie outbreak will be an infection.
- It is possible for players to become infected.
- H1Z1's lore may be crafted by the community after launch.
- Players might be able to train infected animals and pets.
- There may be electricity generated by a dam in the game but this won't feature in Early Access.
Crafting
- Foundations of the system will be in Early Access.
- It's possible to gather resources from buildings that another person has built and left.
- Building a fortress/house means more players and zombies will be attracted to it.
- Campfires and torches act as a light source, presumably drawing further attention.
- You can add light sources to buildings or other objects.
- Player can create clothes that provide less heat.
- After death, another gamer can claim/raid your house.
Zombies
- You can take on one zombie by yourself but you'll need help to tackle larger groups.
- Zombies can become stronger as a result of eating animals and people.
- Zombies can't walk through walls like in Day-Z.
- The infected are attracted to heat.
Weather
- There will be no natural disasters in Early Access.
- Rain will effect buildings and the environment (Ex: If there is rain, this building will change texture).
- Players can become ill due to the weather.
UI
- The HUD will have hidden health/energy/hydration indicators that will pulse when affected and then fade away.
- When you group up with friendly players it's possible to see name plates.
Misc
- No digging holes.
- Traps in game currently.
- You can lock people in rooms.
- VOIP – will have proximity chat.
- The game might introduce PvE Servers if players vote for the server type.
- Nothing that can be bought will effect gameplay. For example, purchased cosmetic clothes will give you an advantage in game).
