Surprise, surprise! CandySwipe has made its way to Kickstarter, seeking funding to get to CandySwipe 3.0.
So, as a quick recap, CandySwipe was made by Albert Ransom under Runsome Apps. He released the game in 2010 for Android and was made in his mother’s memory. In 2 years, Albert enters a copyright war with King, over their more famous game Candy Crush Saga. In the middle of it all, Albert releases an open letter regarding his game’s creation and inspiration, the letter goes viral, and the internet turns on King.
Albert explains this was not even his idea. The outpouring of support from gamers included calls that he bring the game to Kickstarter, so they could use the platform as a mechanism to support him and his game. And so, he has announced CandySwipe 3.0.
Version 3.0 will basically be a complete rebuilt of CandySwipe, updating artwork, animation, sound assets, and game features so that it can compete on the same level as Candy Crush Saga. CandySwipe the game will stay exactly the same. It will continue to be completely free, with the option to show or remove ads as players like it.
Among the enhancements Albert intends to add in is an Arcade mode, seasons, achievements and improved social features. He has also outlined a timetable for production, which would start September to December, and then beta and game release around January to February of next year. From game funding until September, Albert will roll out rewards and find the people he needs to help him bring this dream to reality.
I really should not have to pitch this project too hard. Stick it to King and fund the next CandySwipe! Check out the Kickstarter pitch below and help him fund the game here.
