Sony has a long line of incredible classics fans can point back to from the early years of the original PlayStation to what we hope are some big title hits when the PlayStation 5 launches later this year. Naughty Dog has been one of those iconic exclusive studios for Sony that’s crafted up some massively popular video game titles over the year. We have the likes of their earlier title releases like Crash Bandicoot and their most recent big video game franchise hit, The Last of Us. While the studio has several iconic video game titles they are responsible for, not every title launched is still in their control.
For instance, Crash Bandicoot, a game that has had its franchise launched into the market in 1996, is no longer a Sony or Naughty Dog exclusive title. However, Naughty Dog is pretty notorious for leaving a wide variety of Easter Eggs from their previous works in the latest video game releases. In fact, one of the biggest Easter Eggs fans were overjoyed to see was Crash Bandicoot make a return in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The video game title launched in 2016, exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and it featured a unique little Easter Egg.
Rather than being a visual-only Easter Egg, in one section of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, players will find themselves playing a level of Crash Bandicoot. This was a short section of the game which had players going through an iconic level while the game narrative plays out. It was also something that came out before the Crash Bandicoot remakes were announced so this was really a big surprise for fans when they got to the Easter Egg point for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End campaign.
At any rate, if you thought the Easter Egg was just an emulation build of Crash Bandicoot then you can think again. A fan took to the internal code to find out that Naughty Dog went ahead and completely rebuilt the level for their video game which is pretty crazy to think about. A massive video game studio went the extra mile to recreate their previous popular work for a small Easter Egg in what was their latest video game title released in 2016. There’s even a video on YouTube further explaining this discovery which you can view down below.
While you can enjoy Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the latest release from the development studio came out this year for the PlayStation 4, which is The Last of Us Part 2. We’re not sure just what the studio is up to next, but it seems that their work with Uncharted is over with and coming off of The Last of Us, we could potentially see a brand new IP come out for fans after the PlayStation 5 launches into the marketplace later this year.
