Rumors are coming out that Watch Dogs is set to launch a closed beta on Xbox One.
There are two sources for the rumors, mouse2012 and AbleToFail. mouse2012 shared a screenshot from the Upload Studio section. Upload Studio is what Xbox One owners can use to upload gameplay clips. Obviously, the implication here is gameplay uploads will be available in the beta.
AbletoFail’s screenshot shows what could be the download screen for the beta, with a download size of 23.07 GB.
If true, this actually supports Ubisoft’s announcement of a May 27 release date for the game. They would of course want to do the beta at least a month in advance. Given the actual scope of the game, and how closely the release looms, they would need to have beta testing done as soon as possible. It would also be logical for them to have planned the announcement close to beta.
Among other things, we will get an early look at the graphical quality of the game as it would actually be played. Based on how it played out on other recent games, beta players may receive a better experience than what launch players will receive. Overall, though, this is Ubisoft’s opportunity to end speculation about any possible downgrades.
So, if the game really doesn’t have any problems with graphics, expect Ubisoft to confirm and launch this beta soon. Let’s hope that that will actually turn out to be the case.
