Titanfall: Graphics Issues and Fixes

March 10, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

No game is perfect. We’re cataloging here ongoing issues with Titanfall, with updates as issues get resolved / new issues are added in.

Early Titanfall players are starting to air complaints about technical issues with the game post-beta. They seem to mostly be issues with the game not optimizing properly on PCs, but what makes the situation odd is that these same players did not have these issues before, during the beta. We’ll run down what we’ve found for you below, and update as new issues come to light and older ones are resolved.

So, the OP here seems to be complaining that attempting to max out the game at 1080p leads to framerates of as slow as 15 to 20 FPS. Dropping down to 720p brings framerate up to a more reasonable 45 to 60 FPS. Fellow players have suggested he update drivers as well as check graphics card settings for best results.

This poster shared a screenshot demonstrating graphical degradation of the game in action. This player was told to check texture filtering settings. Unfortunately, that made the game switch to the integrated graphics card by default, making image quality worse.

Lastly, this OP revealed he went through the terrible, and for some gamers, familiar, V-sync dilemma. Turning off V-sync causes high level screen tearing, especially for players with medium builds and below. Turning it on removes tearing, but introduces terrible input lag. Turning V-sync on in-game while disabling in on the Nvidia control panel unlocks framerate and removes tearing, but this time at the price of mouse sensitivity tying up to FPS. Finally, OP figured to do the latter and use Nvidia Precision X to get the game in a playable state.

This issue was bad enough that Vince Zampella has gone on record to confirm that they are working on a fix, although we don’t know yet if said fix is coming in the next update.

@AjayLikesGaming no, but working on it
