For the first time, Activision and Infinity Ward will let anyone with Xbox Live play a portion of a Call of Duty game’s multiplayer free of charge. Ghosts will see a demo-style release this weekend, giving anyone on the fence the chance to see a segment of the game’s competitive feature set for a short period of time.
Strikezone, Warhawk, and Prison Break are the three maps that players will be able to experience, with team deathmatch, search and rescue, and domination acting as the three game modes available for play. The cooperative Extinction mode will also be included.
The demo is only available on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For any veterans looking to pray upon the green, low-level players just getting their feet wet, know that those participating in this trial will be in a separate matchmaking pool. It’ll be a battle between new soldiers, with all the levels and unlocks gained disappearing after the weekend is up. If you’re interested, the fun starts 10 a.m. PST Friday, March 7, and ends Monday, March 10.
