LEGO: The Hobbit will be released in North America on April 8th and in Europe on April 11th, publisher Warner Bros. has announced.
The game, which features the first two movies of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit adaptation – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – is in development for Mac, PC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The final movie in Jackson's trilogy, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be in cinemas this December but there's no word yet on whether that film will also get the LEGO game treatment.
Yesterday, Sony announced a PS3 super-slim 500GB bundle which includes LEGO: The Hobbit for $269. The game will bring the characters of Tolkien's world including Bilbo, Gandalf, and Thorin to life in environments seen in the movies like Rivendell and The Shire.
This is the second LEGO game to be set in Middle Earth, LEGO: The Lord of the Rings was released last year and included the three movies in that trilogy.
