It wasn’t very long ago that we got news of the Mafia trilogy being remastered. All three of the mainline Mafia games were being remastered which for the first two installments, this would give a chance for not only newcomers for the franchise but also veterans that remember enjoying the first installment all the way back in 2002. Still, with each remastered edition, there are typically a few changes made to the game and that’s what you can expect for Mafia: Definitive Edition.
The development team behind the title, Hangar 13, has made mention in the PlayStation Magazine Issue 53, that the studio is making sure that they deliver a game that fans would expect for today’s standards. It’s not a direct carbon copy of this first game that released, but something that will really feel enhanced. While the main story and tone will stay true to the game’s original groundwork placed by the developers, it will see some new features and other enhancements that Hangar 13 feels could likely further be explored.
“What we want to do is rejuvenate the game, make it relevant to modern players, but keep the spirit of the original. We have made changes, it’s not a one-to-one copy of the original game. Anything which we could add in to expand the game outside of the regular design. We’ve done everything we can to embellish, enlarge, and enhance.”
We’re certainly interested in seeing just what changes are being made, but it seems that we can overall expect the same kind of experience. While what areas are further fleshed out to make it feel like a modern game release remains to be seen, but we won’t have to wait too much longer. Currently, Mafia: Definitive Edition is set to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms on August 28, 2020.
