A page for Fable Trilogy has appeared on Xbox Marketplace, for the Xbox 360. The anthology is rated M by the ESRB, and will be released February 4, 2014.
The game description reveals that this is a bundle of Fable Anniversary, Fable 2 and Fable 3. As an anthology, they give clear warning that Xbox Marketplace allows multiple purchases of the same game, but will only give you one copy.
Aside from that, there aren’t many surprises here. Lionhead Studios are both publisher and developer, and it will be on Dolby Digital.
Detailing the ESRB rating, the game retains its mature content, including blood and gore, language, use of alcohol, violence, and sexual content. The ESRB does not rate online interactions.
The big questions now, at least in my mind, are whether this anthology is coming as a retail package, and if Lionhead may be also working on a port for Xbox One.
What we do know is that Lionhead is active at work at Fable Legends, a dramatic departure from the game’s conventions since the departure of series creator Peter Molyneux.
For older fans, love and hate it, this will serve as a last chance to re-experience the Molyneux Fable experience before change comes. We have no announcements for cost, either, but I would be surprised if they try to sell it at full retail price.
For curious newbies, this is definitely a great value. With so much playtime found in a single title alone, all three could easily fill out the duration of an entire console generation. Not that I’m suggesting anything…
