We have for you an interesting new Kickstarter, that’s sure to get fully funded is you might want to jump in for some easy pickings on those rewards. Introducing Project Rain World.
Project Rain World is set in a barren wasteland of an ancient civilization, constantly beset by deadly rains. Interestingly, your character is a slugcat, venturing every day to follow nature’s call: find food and survive. Survive natural predators using your hybrid abilities to jump and grip onto surfaces with suction.
The slugcat is unusually nimble, with fluid, nearly gravity-defying movement. It’s also smart enough to use the environment around it, and items like sticks and rocks, to fight off its smoothly animated predators, but watch out! Messing up can prove fatal, and the end can be somewhat graphic. The game also boasts a wonderful breakbeat / chiptune soundtrack.
Here’s the great news. It’s less than two days, but the game is almost completely funded, sitting at $ 22,160 of its $ 25,000 goal. This may be one of the most quickly funded Kickstarters ever, and it didn't even seem to get any press yet! If this game interests you, now is the perfect time to jump in and back them. It’s not a complex game, so the minimum of $ 10 is enough to get you a digital copy. The money they raise at this point could be used to expand the game, or fund ports into other platforms. While I’m making no guarantees for the latter, if you have a loved platform in mind, say, Steam, Vita, or Wii U, this could be an opportunity to jump in and tell the developers you want it there too.
If development goes this smoothly, Project Rain World will be released to PC and Mac December of this year. You can also check out the soundtrack below.
