Following reports that Minecraft was in development for Wii U Markus 'Notch' Persson has dashed such speculation saying on Twitter that he is "not aware" of any plans to release the game on Nintendo's system.
He followed up to say that a Wii U version would "make sense" but added that Mojang and 4J Studios, which developes the console ports of Minecraft, have "too much work already".
I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft.

I agree a Wii U version would make sense, btw. The only reason for no current plans is we've got too much work already. I <3 Nintendo.
