The latest issue of MCV reports that sales of the PlayStation Vita have surged following the release of the PS4.
Sales of the handheld rose by 68 per cent in the week following the PS4's release and by a further 65 per cent the following week although it's unclear how many units this translates to.
Senior product manager Ben Law said:
"PS Vita sales wise we are continuing to see strong week-on-week growth since our latest campaign kicked in. The new TV advert went live this week and we've already seen amazing feedback from PS4 owners on the Remote Play feature, and the success of Tearaway highlights what [a] great proposition PS Vita is, either as a standalone device or as the perfect companion to PS4."
A recent Japanese survey found that gamers in the country were most interested in PS Vita ahead of other platforms. It seems that Sony's inventment in the system may finally be paying off.
Earlier this week PlayStation group president and CEO Andrew House said the PS4 launch marked a "great opportunity" for the Vita and said Remote Play is being well received in Europe.
Sony has previously described PS4 and Vita as "perfect partners".
