Unknown Worlds, the developers of Natural Selection 2, have started making a new game by the name of Subnautica which, as the name suggests, sees players descend beneath the ocean.
The title is an open world game and the developers intend to combine elements of role playing, sandbox, exploration and cinematic games for what they call a "a unique experience".
Describing the state of the game at the present time, Unknown Worlds says:
"Subnautica is not in ‘alpha,’ it is an idea that is just starting to be mouled into its first playable incarnations. We are not ready to announce it and try to ‘build buzz’ or ‘attract attention’ – But we are ready, and excited, to share our work with you."
Exploration will be key to the game and players are intended to have a sense that they are slipping into a mysterious world without knowing just how far you can go. You can dive through the water as well as build your own submersive vehicle and will encounter unique creatures, some of which may be hostile, during your travels.
Unknown Worlds says they want to share ever success and failure they encounter during development. You can find out more in the video below and on Subnautica's website.
