Most eyes at the moment are on Sony and Microsoft, not for their current-generation platforms, but the upcoming releases of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Despite this, there is still support going on for the latest platforms available and today we’re finding out that Sony is going to be rolling out the 7.50 update soon for the PlayStation 4. Furthermore, there are apparently invites being sent out to allow players a chance to beta test the update.
The news came out through Twitter posts where users have noted to their followers that they were sent a beta invite from Sony. Essentially, Sony is asking players to opt in to test out the 7.50 update which should help them bring out a solid update when it officially goes live. This isn’t too unique as Sony has allowed players to opt-in for a chance to enter beta trials in the past.
“ We invite you to the PS4 system software 7.50 beta test. Please participate in this test program. Thank you for your cooperation in improving the quality of system software in the future. There are no new features in this beta test. Improved operation stability.”
Unfortunately, we don’t know what may come from the 7.50 beta update for the PS4. It’s possible that there are some new features to make use of, but it apparently noted that for the beta test that there wouldn’t be any new features to test, so if there is anything new to try then it wouldn’t be until the full beta is released. For now, all we can do is wait and see just what Sony is able to provide users for the PlayStation 4 and if it would sway newcomers to pick up a console prior to Sony’s launch for the upcoming PlayStation 5.
