This is a look at the M1911 attachment using the 3x scope in Battlefield 4, and why, unfortunately, this free gun from DICE does not come recommended for online multiplayer.
This was the gun used in development and recently promised by DICE to be released free to all players. Unfortunately, it turns out this is a bad gift.
It does increase medium range accuracy, assuming you can get a hit in after the recoil. However, it really falters in real world application. Specifically, this occurs when you’ve already used the M1911 and immediately have to switch guns to finish off your target. It is preferable that you switch to pistols here, but going ADS to snipe the target again becomes harder. You will really need to have good targeting skill to make it all come together. The gun is even worse on PC, since you don’t have the auto aim to help.
Overall, the problem with the M1911 is one of practicality. You will not be taking out anyone from medium or long ranges. It would take 9 bullets to kill one guy. Even then, you would have to compensate for recoil and low magazine capacity, and make sure each bullet hits the target. It looks cool, but is way too hard to use to be worth it.
Again, the M1911 with the 3x scope is most useful in one aspect: it hits the right sweet spot at medium close range. Outside of that range, it is simply outclassed by everything else, and the game is simply not designed where you will find yourself hitting that sweet spot often.
