Killzone Shadow Fall STA59B Pulver Guide

December 7, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Another new Helghast assault rifle, another Support Class go-to gun.

We have a new weapon guide for Killzone Shadow Fall. This time, we’ll be looking at the STA59B Pulver.

The STA59B Pulver is a brand new assault rifle in Killzone, and one of the two Helghast rifles in Shadow Fall. This rifle can be used by the Support class in multiplayer.

The Pulver brings together power and accuracy, and is well-suited for mid-range battles. Within this range, it can kill in 4 shots, and of course, one headshot is an instakill (on purpose on this game). Past 70 meters, the damage goes down.

Unfortunately for the Pulver, its recoil is also high. To exacerbate things, it can only spit out these bullets at 455 RPM. As a result, and perhaps ironically, this is not a suitably close quarters combat gun. However, it also has a hefty 35 round magazine. The combination of the high capacity magazine, low rate of fire and consistent damage, the Pulver is great at taking out multiple targets.

The initial scope of choice for this gun is the Helghast Dot Sight, providing no magnification and limiting vision. The payoff: precision. Going up a notch, there is the Helghast Holo Sight, which is actually identical to the VSA Holo sight. This one provides a larger view and the same dot sight, with 1.2 x magnification. Finally, you have the Helghast ACOG Sight, which is a good choice for some long range shooting. It will not eliminate the recoil and muzzle rate, but it does make a difference.

For underbarrel attachments, you start out with a vertical grip, but this does nothing. Your 1st useful attachment is a Mobile Mine, which will throw out a spider-like mine that will kill enemies for you, unless they get caught first. Above that is a lock-on Missile Launcher that can one shot kill.

Overall, the Pulver is suited for the Support Class as a reliable mid-ranger. Again, its shortcomings with recoil make it a poor choice for close range or long range, although you can extend that usefulness. Recommended loadout is the basic Helghast Dot Sight, Missile Launcher, with secondary weapon being the STA19 Reigner equipped with laser pointer, Petrusite Grenade, and Spawn Beacon.
