Battlefield 4 XM25 Airburst Guide: You (Might Be) Doing It Wrong

Learn these dirty secrets campers don’t want you to know about how to blow them sky high.

This time, we’re looking at Battlefield 4’s XM25 Airburst attachment, how everyone is using it wrong, and the right way to do it.

The XM25 Airburst is often used as a typical grenade launcher, but really, that’s not the best way to use it. Typical use means firing directly at an enemy within clear sight of view, or hitting the ground next to someone behind cover, hoping it will take someone out.

The assumption here is that something that explodes deals out high damage. Unfortunately, in this case, it is actually counterproductive thinking. The XM25 Airburst still needs three grenades to take someone out. If you do have a direct line of sight on someone, you’re better off using your gun.

Another common mistake players make is using the XM25 Airburst on heavy armor. You go after a tank and it will only be able to pull of 1 % damage on it. The XM25 does not deal as much as damage as traditional grenade launchers.

The Airburst can pull it off against vehicles where the driver is out in the open, such as jeeps or light ATVs. It’s a lot of work, but in certain circumstances you can even take out helicopters.

However, the XM25 was made for one thing, and it excels at it: taking out campers. It takes its name from how it bursts in the air behind cover, hiding anyone behind said cover. Players who have the XM25 are taking out the jerks, the dickweeds who would rather sit it out.

Here is how you really use the XM25:

You find a camper, you aim at them, you will notice that the reticule will turn red even if the target is not visible. The XM25 locks on to targets for you, and will display how far away its grenades will explode (2nd number on the left) as well as how far away the target is (number on the right).

Now, the XM25 will always be able to hit 3 feet behind the piece of cover.  In case you have to hit slightly above or a little bit to the side, you will have to throw out four grenades to guarantee a kill. Of course, in case that doesn’t work, you should go rush right in and finish the job because they’re almost good as done by then.
