Republique, which was originally due to be released sometime during the summer of this year, is now "probably" going to launch next month.
Speaking to Redbull UK Ryan Payton of developer Camouflaj said Republique is "probably going to be coming out in December."
The game raised $550,000 on Kickstarter in Sping of last year but little has been heard of since. Camouflaj's website still states that the iOS version of the game is "Coming Summer 2013".
Payton – who was previously a producer on the Metal Gear franchise – told Redbull:
"I think our June 2013 release date was the most optimistic we could have put on our Kickstarter, and I think what we've realised is that one, it sucks for Kickstarter backers, as there's definitely a precedent for things taking longer,"
However, Payton added that they've done their best to keep Kickstarter backers aware of developments in the project.
"I felt that the community is in general pretty forgiving about teams asking for more time, though, and every time we brought up a delay with our backers, it was universally accepted, and positive and supportive. They just like being looped in and informed of it."
Republique is eventually also planned for PC and Mac.
