Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – How To Hack Security Droids | BD-1 Combat Upgrade Guide

November 18, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Hack enemy robots and gain friendly AI allies in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with this optional upgrade.

There’s a second powerful upgrade BD-1 can unlock that can give you an edge in combat. Once you reach the third planet of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you’ll fight the Empire to rescue imprisoned wookies on their homeworld of Kashyyk. There’s a boss battle against a familiar Security Droid fans will remember from Rogue One — only this time, they’re still working for the bad guys.

On this same planet, you’ll be able to upgrade BD-1 twice — first, you can use Overcharge to control Imperial panels. This upgrade is required and you can’t miss it. The second upgrade is much more hidden and is completely optional. It’s totally worth finding, so backtrack to the Imperial Refinery to nab the combat upgrade ASAP.

How To Hack Security Droids | BD-1 Combat Upgrade Guide

On Kashyyk, after the Security Droid boss, you’ll free the Wookies from their prison. Just on the exterior walkway outside the prison block, look to the right — there’s a locked door, and a hanging rope. Jump to the rope and swing to a second rope, leading to a raised alcove.

That’s where you’ll find an upgrade station. Use it to upgrade BD-1 with a hacking module, allowing you to take over damaged Security Droids. After damaging the standard enemy variants of the boss, you can send BD-1 to take control of them. It’s kind of like mind control. You’ll see the BD-1 prompt appear after doing enough damage to disable the Security Droid.

It’s like having an AI companion, and it’s very easy to miss on your first visit to Kashyyk. It isn’t required, but it does make future encounters against loads of enemies much easier. These Security Droids are common on Imperial Bases, and you’ll sometimes have to deal with waves of enemies from landing craft. Security Droids are an easy way to distract enemies — and it’s just a cool ability that won’t cost you anything to use.
