Ready at Dawn's creative director Ru Weerasuriya has spoken on GameInformer's podcast about the weapons system in PS4 exclusive title The Order: 1886 and explained why the game won't feature a weapons wheel.
Adressing a question from a fan about how weapons work in the game he said:
“For the weapons -and beyond the weapons- any thing that you carry, they are very set in the way it would work in reality.”
Players will have a primary weapon and a pistol and Ready at Dawn want to make you stick with your decision.
“It was important to us that you didn’t feel like you had this huge inventory of a lot of stuff, if you had a huge amount of weapons it would take away from things that we’re trying to do, which is push you to moments where weapons matter.
“So the weapon system is based on that, it’s based on what the character can realistically carry, giving the player the option as the game goes on to equip or un-equip and replace those slots with any weapons."
The game is set in London and was first revealed at E3 in June. Just 80 people are working on the title but Ready at Dawn still expects to take a financial hit due to The Orders' PS4 exclusivity.
The Order: 1886 is Ready at Dawn's first new IP having previously worked on Daxter and the God of War PSP titles.
