343 Industries and Vanguard Games will be adding a little bit more Halo to the holiday season. Halo: Spartan Assault, the top-down twin-stick shooter that was originally designed to run on tablets and phones, will be making the jump to both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One in December. This digital battle against the Flood might not be the first-person shooter you were looking for, but an expanded feature set will give those who’ve already experienced this particular assault on the go a new reason to play.
The Spartan experience will boast 30 campaign missions, along with an all-new online co-op mode and the Operation Hydra expansion to the single-player mode. For those who are interested in the lore, Spartan Assault takes place between the third and fourth games, where covert Spartan Ops missions are being conducted within the ceasefire between the UNSC and Convenant.
It’s a nice appetizer before the next big Halo experience, which will hit the Xbox One sometime down the line.
