Control: How To Get The ‘Evade’ Ability | Objects of Power Guide

August 28, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee with the first optional ability you can unlock in Control.

Objects of Power are special items you can find in Control, and each one has a mini-quest associated with it. Unlocking these Objects of Power is totally optional, but you’ll be missing out on some of the handiest powers in the game. The first missable power of Control is the ‘Evade’ ability — a zippy dodge that launches Jesse away from any incoming attacks.

The Evade can also be used to make long jumps or enjoy a little more time mid-air. It uses a small amount of energy each time you dodge, and it’s one of the most important skills in the game. It’s weirdly easy to miss. If you don’t take a turn down one particular hallway, you might miss out on this awesome extra ability.

How To Get The ‘Evade’ Ability | Objects of Power Guide

To unlock the side-mission ‘A Merry Chase’, go down the hallway opposite the Janitor’s Room in the Janitor’s Office area, near the start of the Maintenance Sector. Go down the hall and you’ll find a break room with a cache inside. Go for the cache, and the floor will crumble — dropping you into an Astral Plane challenge.

Here, you’ll learn about the ‘Evade’ ability. This is completely optional and can be missed. The ‘Evade’ is a quick-dodge, allowing you to avoid explosions, attacks, or close the gap and strike enemies with your melee attack. Evade cannot be upgraded, but it’s also useful for traversing the environment before you unlock the ability to Hover.

Complete the Astral Plane challenge to unlock ‘Evade’ — it’s a very handy ability, and you’ll want to grab it as soon as possible.
