Watch Dogs has been around for two installments and we’re gearing up for the third installment release, Watch Dogs: Legion. The problem here is that the first two installments focused on their single protagonist character. This upcoming installment, however, doesn’t focus on one character but puts players into the roles of multiple characters throughout the campaign which may have some worried the narrative aspect may get a bit lost. Fortunately thanks to a statement made by Kent Hudson, the Game Design Director, the narrative adventure will still be compelling.
As mentioned, the upcoming Watch Dogs video game installment focuses on multiple characters. For the first time in this franchise, players will be recruiting NPCs to join in on DedSec’s cause. This works out by players having to seek out characters with various skills that may prove to be worthwhile in their mission tasks. However, these characters can still be killed and once they lose their life they are removed completely from the game so it seems that there is no centered focused character.
That shouldn’t affect the storyline. Speaking with Spiel Times, Kent Hudson stated that the story has always been a big part of the game and it will remain a key component for Watch Dogs: Legion.
So yeah, our story. You know, first off– I know “play as anyone” is kind of a crazy technological innovation with the simulation we’ve done, but story is still a huge part of the game, it’s a huge part of the franchise and this game is no different. We’ve got five different storylines in the game, so it’s five main– you could call them quest lines if you want. And each one of them is tied to one of our thematic pillars.
There will be a few different storylines for players to complete. Giving an example of one pillar structure of storyline, in Watch Dogs: Legion players will have to deal with the surveillance state. It’s seemingly going to be broken up in sections that can be completed by anyone but remain a crucial narrative to keep playing chipping away until they finish the game.
As for when you can get a copy of Watch Dogs: Legion the game is slated to release on March 6, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia platforms.
