Warner Bros. and DC Comics have officially announced that they will be casting Robert Pattinson to dawn the Dark Knight mask in the upcoming Matt Reeves Batman Trilogy.
The announcement has come today after about two weeks of speculation. The running for the Batman was between Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult, and as deliberations were being made, it seemed the studio and director — Matt Reeves — went with Pattinson for the Batman role.
This is a huge career-changing role for Pattinson, as Batman is one of the most pivotal characters in the DC universe. However, this is not to say Pattinson was a no one before the role, he starred in plenty of great films like Twilight franchise, The Lighthouse, and High Life.
It will be very interesting to see the take Reeves and Pattinson take with the Batman. It probably will erase everything we know about Ben Affleck’s Batfleck, which was overall pretty good. However, a younger Bruce Wayne and Batman can call for very interesting storytelling moments. The Batman, the first of the trilogy, is set to start filming later this year.
The Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson is scheduled to release in 2021. Are you excited for the highly anticipated superhero movie? Let us know in the comments below!
