Suda 51’s Killer is Dead Takes Fifth Place in Japanese Charts

August 12, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Only 17,000 copies sold, less than a third of Lollipop Chainsaw.

Media Create's charts for the week July 29th to August 4th have shown that Suda 51's Killer is Dead sold just 17,709 copies on its debut.

While the numbers relate only to the PS3 version of the game the Xbox 360 version came in 36th and while numbers haven't been released presumably only a few hundred copies have been sold on Microsoft's console.

By contrast, Suda 51's last release, Lolliop Chainsaw, sold 53,347 copies on PS3 and 14,422 on Xbox 360 during its launch week meaning that Killer is Dead has managed opening sales of less than a third of the 67,769 units Lollipop Chainsaw achieved.

3DS title Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life topped the charts with sales of 119,154. It was followed by three other 3DS games; Ace Attorney 5, Mario & Luigi RPG4 Dream Adventure and Tomodachi Collection New Life.

Killer is Dead is set to be released in North America on August 27th and in Europe on August 30th. It seems however that yet another Suda 51 game is set to perform poorly at retail.
