There are a number of video game titles that get transferred into movies and while most of these films fail to bring the charm and narrative focus adventure that the developers originally deliver, few manage to deliver a solid experience. It wasn’t very long ago that a brand new and unique Pokemon video game launched on the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS. Known as Detective Pikachu, the video game is a mystery point-and-click style adventure where players take on the role of a young man named Tim Goodman.
After Tim’s father mysteriously disappears, Tim Goodman stumbles upon a talking Pikachu who is also a detective seeking out to solve cases. The duo within the game teams up and starts to solve mysterious Pokemon cases while unveiling information as to what happened to Tim’s father. Not long after the video game released that a live-action film adaptation was in the works which feature CGI Pokemon characters.
For the most part, the narrative remains to be the same with Ryan Reynolds taking the role of Detective Pikachu’s voice. Currently, there is a trailer released to give viewers a look as to what they can expect from the live action film. However, there doesn’t appear to be a specific release date attached to the film project just yet. Instead, gamers who are interested in seeing this video game film adaptation can expect it out in theaters at some point in 2019.
