The PlayStation 4 has been out for a little over five years now and it has a massive catalog of great video game titles. This list is constantly growing with new IPs and installments to beloved video game franchises. However, Sony needed a bit more to offer their gamers in order to move units so they unleashed a steady stream of exclusives. Unlike most of Microsoft’s Xbox One exclusives, gamers wouldn’t be able to enjoy Sony exclusives on the PC platform.
So if you owned the console since the day it launched or if you recently made the purchase, we would like to highlight some of our favorite PlayStation 4 exclusives. Below you’ll find our personal picks, game description and a Before You Buy video if we have previously covered the game.

#16 Gran Turismo Sport
- Developer: Polyphony Digital
- Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Gran Turismo Sport will mark as the thirteenth video game installment to the Gran Turismo series. The video game is described by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi as the first title within the new era of Gran Turismo games. Gamers will find that there are three main game modes that include a campaign, sports mode, and an arcade mode. While gamers can race both online and offline with Gran Turismo Sport just like the previous installments of the franchise though it will lack dynamic weather and a day-night cycle. One of the key aspects that gathered attention around Gran Turismo Sport was the ability to use the PlayStation VR headset. While at first the game was announced to be fully compatible with the VR headset, the development team has later alerted to fans that VR support will be limited to a special VR Tour mode.
#15 Detroit: Become Human

Set in Detroit, Michigan, and developed by Quantic Dream, gamers who enjoy choice-driven narratives will want to pick up Detroit: Become Human. This is a futuristic neo-noir thriller that’s based off an old 2012 tech demo from Quantic Dream. Players will take control of three different characters, all of which are androids. You will have Kara, a female android that has escaped the factory from where she was made. There’s also Connor, who is a male android that is tasked with hunting down deviant androids. Lastly, there is Markus, another male android who has begun an android revolution against the human race.
This video game is all about choices and there will be a ton of them to choose through within the game. In fact, there are so many choices that each will alter the narrative storyline and can have grave consequences with your characters.
#14 Until Dawn

Until Dawn is a PlayStation 4 exclusive and a horror adventure title. Developed by Supermassive Games, Until Dawn follows a group of eight characters who decide to hold a holiday retreat at a cabin within a fictional mountain resort in western Canada. However, their holiday retreat quickly turns sour as they learn a psycho killer is on the loose forcing our group of eight to survive until sunrise. If you enjoy choice-based video games then this title will be a must play.
Gamers will be able to control the characters at various points in the narrative while making critical choices along the way. Depending on the choices made will alter the narrative and even result in potential characters not making it through the night.
#13 Infamous Second Son

- Release: March 21, 2014
inFamous: Second Son is a game that deserves to be on this list for its faithful recreation of the city of Seattle and action packed combat. This is a thriving city with developers clearly taking note of the fine details to replicate the real world location. Likewise, if you haven’t played the previous installments in the inFamous franchise then you’ll still be alright. This title takes place several years after the end of inFamous 2 with a brand new protagonist.
This could also be a great jumping point to try the series out before diving deeper into the past inFamous video games. While the first installments are not available on the PlayStation 4 through remastered editions or compilation discs, they can be played through the PlayStation Now service. Furthermore, being that this game released in 2014, you can get the game fairly cheap today.
#12 Gravity Rush 2

Gravity Rush 2 will be picking up right after the events of Gravity Rush. What we know so far is that most of the main characters from Gravity Rush will be making a return. The story will follow princess Kat after a gravity storm hits and sucks Kat, Raven, and Syd into a gravitational whirlpool and lands them into a mining settlement called Banga village. Much like the previous pick on our list, inFamous: Second Son, Gravity Rush 2 has a past installment available. The first installment, simply titled Gravity Rush, gamers can enjoy the game on the PlayStation 4 along with the latest PlayStation handheld device, the PlayStation Vita. If the first installment does have you interested, we suggest picking up the PlayStation 4 copy as its the superior edition, being a remastered release from the original PlayStation Vita title.
#11 The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian was a game that I think many of us didn’t think we would actually see release into the market. Originally, this was a game being developed for the PlayStation 3 though it was hit with several delays and setbacks causing the title to not see a release until 2016 for the PlayStation 4. This is the same development team who had previously brought out Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. As such, you can expect plenty of puzzle-based elements to come up during gameplay. Speaking of gameplay, players will take the role of a young boy who is trapped in an ancient castle where he befriends a large beast named Trico. Through the help of one another, Trico and the young boy work on their escape from the castle.
