The release of Grand Theft Auto V is only four months away. It has been hailed by many as the biggest game of the year – without question. With the game coming at us so quickly, it's only natural that fans begin to speculate and talk about what they think will be in the game, what it will look like and other miscellanious information.
A user on the GTAForums going by the name of exmpltree has concocted his own vision of what the game's heads-up-display will look like. This comes alongside a map that was created last month using screenshots from different trailers and media from the game.
The HUD created by exmpltree looks sleek and compatible with Grand Theft Auto V. Check out some screenshots of it below:
The HUD is an essential part of any game, as it provides players with a reference to their health levels and other tools like the minimap. In games like Call of Duty, you can turn this completely off for a more realistic experience. That said, with a game as big as Grand Theft Auto V, it's fair to assume there will be a degree of customizability available for the player.
It seems as if the community is beating Rockstar to the punch on nearly all fronts regarding publicity. While their marketing plan may differ greatly from the plan gamers want to see, it's easy to forget that we are nearing the hype train's launch. Most publishers won't begin pushing their game hard until a couple of months out, though GTA V is a bit different due to its colossal popularity.
In a post on CVG, it's apparent where exmpltree garnered his ideas for the faux HUD:
“The character selection wheel is split into four triangles: Franklin, Trevor, Michael, and your multiplayer character”
“The transition between the three protagonists is smooth; the camera zooms out to a Google Earth view, the screen fills with static, the camera moves across the city and zooms back into your chosen character”
“Each character is rated in a series of skill categories: Stamina, Shooting, Strength, Stealth, Flying, Driving, Mechanic, Lung Capacity.”
Things like this HUD and the patchwork map are what get us excited for GTA V. It's just a shame we've got to wait until September 17 to play it.
