It seems like 2017 was an amazing year for PS4, in the UK one in two physical sales were attributed to PS4.
Coming from GamesIndustry.biz by UKIE and GfK Chart-Track PS4 represented 50.2% of all physical software sales over the course of the year. Xbox One was the nearest competitor, which accounted for 31.6% of all games sold. The last record, set by Sony was back in 1998 when the OG PlayStation One’s physical software sales accounted for 47.9 percent of the market.
These statistics aren’t surprising though, considering Sony had the most number of exclusives at number 1 spots including Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Gran Turismo Sport, WipeOut: Omega Collection, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Persona 5. Perhaps the trend will continue with planned upcoming exclusives God of War, Spider-Man, Detroit: Become Human and so on.
In other Sony news, the company has shipped a total of 67.5 million PS4 units since it launched back in 2013.
‘Sony has just revealed their financial report for the end of the quarter which ended on September 30th. Amongst the statistics, the highlight of the entertainment company’s report was that 67.5 million units have been sold worldwide, including the 4.2 million units sent to retailers during the quarter.’
