Looking forward to beefing up your Minecraft experience with the Super Duper Graphics Pack? Well you’re going to have to wait a little longer to experience the better lighting and textures the optional update is set to bring.
During this year’s MineCon Earth Expo, developer Mojang announced that the update will not be available this year as planned. Instead, the pack will be pushed into an unspecified date in 2018.
Unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t end there. The crossplay functionality for Nintendo’s Switch will also be delayed to next year. It will also launch sometime in 2018 next year.
It always sucks to have promised content delayed – especially the Switch crossplay functionality considering the holiday season is up and gamers will want to play with each other. That being said, it sucks, even more, when developers release half finished or broken content.
In other Minecraft news, Microsoft actually originally denied to purchasing the IP when Xbox Boss Phil Spencer pitched it.
‘Revealed in Microsoft boss’ Satya Nadella’s new book, Hit Refresh, the person who declined Spencer’s suggestion was likely Don Mattrick who later left the Xbox team to join Zynga. Spencer, however, had his eye on the prize and keep persisting, propositioning Nadella.’
