Sony has just released its latest numbers for this quarter (ending June 30), the statistics show that shipments of PS4 slowed down slightly compared to the same period last year. Sony shipped 3.3 million PS4 units (3.5 million in 2016), bringing total shipments to 63.3 million.
PS4 Profits, however, have dropped by a massive 59.5% compared to last year, this is mainly because of lowered console prices and lack of a triple A release. Revenue and sales received a slight increase, mainly due to sales of PSVR and digital sales.
Obviously, other factors do come into play such as competition from Nintendo’s recently released Switch or the announcement of Microsoft’s Xbox One X. Customers may opt for either one of those consoles compared to Sony’s newly unveiled gold PS4.
