Halo 4 has had a relatively smooth launch, but it’s not one that’s been absolutely free of hitches. A good chunk of users have reported experiencing connectivity issues in the game’s online mode ever since the release of the latest Spartan Ops mission on November 26.
An open thread on the Halo Waypoint forums contains reports from players worldwide who complain that they are unable to connect to most games and after being forced onto Halo 4’s backup servers. This has caused many of the players to lose their online progress.
343 Industries posted multiple acknowledgements of the problem within the thread, offering potential (if temporary) solutions to affected players, and a promise to investigate the issue. One official response suggested restarting the console.
“There are a few hundred players who have been unable to connect to our servers since yesterday,” reads a post by 343’s forum team. “We're investigating now and hope to have an update soon. If you are experiencing this issue, we'd appreciate knowing your gamertag and what region you're in, as this will help us with our investigation. Thank you in advance for any additional insight you can provide.”
If you’re experiencing similar difficulties and find yourself unable to participate in Spartan Ops or War Games, head on over to the thread and fill out your grievance.
343 Industries has not yet posted an ETA for the fix. We will update this post as more information becomes available.
