Hacker Successfully Adds More Games To NES Classic Edition

January 6, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Hacked NES Classic Editions selling online with a total of sixty video games.

Nintendo is having no trouble when it comes to selling their popular miniature console, the NES Classic. This is a miniature size Nintendo Entertainment System console that comes preloaded with thirty video games that originally released for the NES. However, the system does have a few drawbacks such as no online connectivity which ultimately means that gamers cannot purchase any additional NES classic titles from Nintendo.

Since the console released into the market, we’ve seen countless attempts to hack the system in order to add on a custom firmware or add additional video games. For the most part, it seems that modders have found an easier solution to use the NES Classic as a house for a Raspberry Pi and using an NES emulator.

Now it seems that one Russian hacker managed to successfully add a total of thirty extra video games into the NES Classic and started to sell these hacked units on eBay for a profit. It’s a bit tricky understanding just how he managed to hack the NES Classic right now though it’s only a matter of time before the hack becomes widely available online and used.

The only trouble gamers are currently having right now is finding an NES Classic to purchase. Nintendo seems to have trouble sending enough units out to markets leaving gamers who want to purchase the $60 console waiting for additional units to be sent in or purchase a unit for hundreds of dollars more online.

You can take a look at the hacked NES Classic in action through the posted video above along with what additional thirty video games have added into the unit down below.
